Master Power air screwdrivers are rated in terms of "free speed" (the RPM of the drive spindle with no load at recommended air pressure and the throttle wide open). Use a calibrated torque wrench to check torque on the job. Select proper tool speed for your pneumatic air screwdriver so that stall torque is greater than, or at least equal to, the torque required for the largest screw or bolt and nut on which the screwdriver will be used. While pneumatic screwdrivers with lower RPM provide higher torque and more closely controlled torque, they increase run-down time. If run-down time is an important cost factor, a compromise between accuracy and speed must be reached.
